Silence has a language

I asked her “so are you leaving from office”. She said “yes its 4 PM — time to go home”. Everyday I used to wait for this time because it used to take her 1 hour to reach PG from office and at the same time my college used to over and I used to get 1 hour to talk to her or should I say I used to get 1 hour to listen her. Whatever she used to say, sense or senseless things , some random topic but it used to make so much sense to me. I intentionally used to walk to my PG from college so that for one hour I can talk to her without any interruption.

But that day was different. As usual she was coming out of the same gate of the office, smiling, talking to me and totally in her own world. When she was just about to cross the main gate of the office, I asked her “why are you carrying black color bag today instead of your usual one”. She started explaining the reason, then suddenly after a minute she realized and asked “how do you know I am carrying black color bag” then I said “piche to dekho” (look back). She turned back only to see me and she was shocked, speechless and so surprised that she was unable to stand straight and then she hold the wall next to her. She took a second to realize and then started running towards me and smiling. She just skipped a beat and I guess I forgot to breathe for a minute. I was anyway so eager to meet her. She hugged me in front of so many people and I said to myself “main yahi khusi to dekhna chahta tha iske chehre pe, dost se mange gaye train ke paise wasool ho gaye ” (After all I am here to see this smile only, Got worth of every penny i borrowed from my friend to travel by flight to meet her). Its was so soothing. But then suddenly she said “tum to ghar ja rahe the na fir bangalore kaise aa gaye. Iska matlab tumne mujhse jhoot kaha ” (but you told me that you were going home then how come you are in bangalore ? oh ! so you lied to me ?) , that’s typical of her. Before I could say anything, I noticed that she was smiling, feeling shy and not making eye contact with me. When I asked the reason she said “nothing”. We got into the Bus. This was always our favorite time pass. Siting next to each other in the bus. Holding each other’s hand and uttering not a single word. She was busy in drawing some invisible angles on my palm with her index finger. I was just looking and admiring her. Then without looking at me, she said softly to me “don’t look at me na please, I don’t know why , I am feeling shy but I will be ok in few minutes. Just give me some time to digest the fact that you are actually here”. She didn’t say even once that she is happy to see me but message reached from her eyes to my heart. Then most of time in bus I was silent and she kept drawing angles on my palm and smiling for no reason and I was softly rubbing her hand from my figures just to realize that she is actually next to me. For some unknown reason it was so complete for both of us . If I can remember correctly even I smiled a couple of times for no reason. Slowly she leaned on my shoulder and closed her eyes. This action of her was not new to me, it means that she just wants to enjoy this moment and don’t want to think about anything, neither past nor future. And I was searching something in her palm — may be my lines……..
